Atomic Runner (Virtual Console / MD)

Chelnov is a young scientist who once lived happily with his father and his sister. One day, while walking on the street, he heard the sound of a huge explosion. He rushed home, only to find his father lying bleeding on the floor. Before he died, the father told Chelnov the explosion was caused by Deathtarians, a race of aliens who claimed to be the original population of the Earth and wanted to control this planet.

They also kidnapped Chelnov's sister. Chelnov grabbed a special suit made by his father, which gave him super-human powers and made him an "Atomic Runner". The Deathtarians caught and imprisoned him, but he broke out of the prison and is now on the run...

I remember this game! it's just mind-numbingly hard. Way too many a controllers tossed with this game. If it does come to the Euro VC, I would only recommend it to people who like to get angry. Although it has been a while since I played it, maybe it's not so bad...

Plays entirely different, the controls are totally original and demands practice, but when u do it is a great game to play.

this was one of my favorite games for the sega when i was younger. there's no doubt about me getting this when it comes out.

I was looking for this game for a long time, because it had a different name in the arcade... A very fun game with great weapons and a unique control set up that is hard, but very fun. One you get the heat seeking missles fully charged, you can't be stopped. Check it out!

Looks interesting. How exactly are the controls different anyhow? Does it have a separate button to shoot backwards or something?

Hmmm.....Stupid title and horrible cover art, but the game looks interesting.

Wone be buying this because i have it on cart already for the MD. But i do suggest plp get it. I love how the game plays and some of the weapons are pretty sweet.

I completely agree with The Fox. This game looks interesting, and a bit unique, but I probably won't get it.

I'm surprised- I've never heard of this game before, and it sounds challenging. The gameplay does similar to Contra- which I love, so I may check this one out when it arrives on VC.
