Pitfall Harry returns to adventuring in this “Super” sequel to Pitfall! and Pitfall II: Lost Caverns. Harry’s mission: to recover the famed Raj Diamond, and also to rescue his niece Rhonda and loyal lion sidekick, Quickclaw.
Now armed with a gun, Harry must navigate some 270 screens of 8-bit action-platforming. Valuable items will be collected along the way to aid your quest, but beware: dangers also abound, from snakes and spiders to falling rocks and boiling lava!

Holy crap! I forgot all about this game. Played it lots as a kid. Can't remeber if it sucked but the nostalgia factor is through the roof. Will download for sure. As a side question. What's up with nintendo cutting VC releases from 3 a week to 2? That sucks.

Yea, It has that nostalgia factor but its not that good to be honest.

It looks like fun, but I am not sure I would download it. I sure loved Pitfall 2....

Hmm, maybe Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure (SNES version) will make its way to the VC.

Activision should be releasing their Atari 2600 games on the VC instead of this piece of crap.

I had this game when I was little and I really did like it at first. It is however ridiculously hard, and I never really could get anywhere in it.

I don't know...I may or may not download this title.

I didn't care for this game as a kid. I remember a lot of screen flickering and poor hit detection. It's also really hard, but the game isn't fun enough to put up with its difficulty. The music is also really, really repetitive and boring.

I hope the AVGN reviews this game.

This is one of the games on Seanbaby's top 20 worst NES games list. http://www.seanbaby.com/nes/w20-18.htm
I haven't played it but can already tell that it sucks ass. Way to defile on of your all-time classics, Activision!

Looks like Loderunner meets Mega Man which defeats the porpous of Mega Man, Loderunner, and worst all, Pitfall.

Boy, Nintendo sure has a knack for selecting bad games to be re-released on VC. I look at it this way; every crap game that gets re-released is one less crap game we have to dread being re-released in the future.

If they're releasing this, then surely they'll release "The Mayan Adventure".

This looks like a good way to pass the time, but really isn't that appealing to me. Sure the grafx are good for NES, but me no want. I don't want to kill enemies as harmless as spiders, frogs, weird ghouls, and garden snakes.

Just 3 minutes of listening to the music of this game would make you want to go on a killing spree. Pointless release

The only redeeming factor of this game was when I made that ugly excuse for a Mario wannabe the main villain and final boss of a Klik & Play Mario game I made way back when. You could play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Foreman Spike (Waluigi didn't exist yet, and even then, I wouldn't have made sprites for him), and you had to take this guy down.
You fought him on foot in his first form, in a one-on one match. You could jump on him and throw fireballs, and he'd do the same, except he threw the eels from Pitfall 2. His second form had him flying around in Wily's UFO dropping Atari 2600 ET's. The first half of the boss fight took place on a screen from Urban Champion, and the second half was one of the screens from the NES Spelunker. I was obviously going for a crappy game theme, and I picked some of the worst games I'd played at that time.
It was stupid as hell, but definitely funny. I wish I still had it.

If this game ever dares to appear on the Virtual Console, I'm giving NOA a wake-up call! And your right, the Angry Video Game Nerd NEEDS to review this pile of garbage. What's next? Deadly Tower?

Expect this game before the end of the year.
If this is the game we're getting for Christmas, Christmas will suck for the Virtual Console.
