Kirby Super Star is perhaps the most fondly remembered game in the Kirby series.
It's actually a set of seven different games plus some minigames: Spring Breeze, Dynablade, Gourmet Race, and The Great Cave Offensive are available from the get-go, while Meta Knight's Revenge, Milky Way Wishes, The Arena and a set of minigames become available later.
These are all typical Kirby platformers, each one with its own set of levels and different gameplay. In most of them you can consume monsters and learn their special abilities like in previous games, but in Milky Way Wishes, abilities are instead collected in a manner similar to Metroid. The Great Cave Offensive features one gigantic level with various obstacles, hidden treasures and some elementary lever-pulling kind of puzzle solving. Meta Knight's Revenge is the only game on the cartridge with a (fairly strict) timer. The Arena is a "boss rush" mode, asking players to defeat every boss in the game with limited health refills and on one life. Read More »
Kirby Super Star is best known for its two-player cooperative play option, which has given it a reputation as a party game.

I wonder how long it takes for this to come out of Japan... Instant download when it comes over here. I don't really want the expensive DS version. I've already finished it years ago.

I would've have downloaded this If I haven't played through KSSU, but I guess some people get it both on VC and on DS, so they can play it on TV old-school style and on the road.

My second favorite Kirby game of all time. I still remember the first time I had played it during Hurricane Rita back in 2005. Unfortunately, I was seduced by the highly addicting Kirby's Dream Course, so I played the latter more. But as the years went by, I started to like KSS for the DS more than KDC. Great game, and a total surprise when I heard it was coming to the VC!

well, if gb,gbc and gba would get on wii's VC, i'd say: i'll wait for more kirby games, but there arent that many kirby games.... not different ones, and real ones, so that kirby actually gets powers and jumps and stuff, not rolling or in pinball (although kirby's pinball looks fun)
thx alot nintendo

I have Ultra. I'd dish out Wii points to download the original, too. Just comes to show how much I like the game.

I don't think Ultra's 50 bucks. More like 30 or 35. On second thought maybe I will get this version. I've always prefered playing games on TVs anyway. Anybody think the SNES version is better than Ultra?

@Kevin: I agree, it's not worth shelling out $35 for a remake when we could wait for it's VC release and pay just $8.
I don't buy remakes for a reason. I really want to be a true supporter of the Virtual Console and buying remakes don't count.

@10: its not that they are stupid, enough people who like DS so much, they dont play wii much
i think they do this either cuz the remake dont sell that good anymore, or they have enough people who bought it and still buy it, so they give us this one too
also, dont forget its not in EU or NA yet, so they might wait till it dont sell that good anymore, cuz enough people who want it as soon as they can
and i think the remake has some more stuff on it ( i dont own it )
well, since i dont play DS or any other handhelds, this will be very good news, and i cant wait now

To be honest I only bought Ultra because wasn't this game's rating removed off ESRB with Zombies and the earlier announced games that never got released or am I thinking of another Kirby game?
