Remember the timeless classic, Galaga? Say hello to its successor, as the arcade version of Gaplus hits Virtual Console!
As before, you command a lone fighter ship, facing down hordes of invading aliens. Their mission: to take over your world. Your mission: to stop them at all costs. This time around you'll have the use of a number of collectable Blaster Heads, such as the Phalanx and Sidewinder, which will aid you in your battle - and some even let you bring enemies over to your side!

It was even released under the name "Galaga 3" in some places.

Why is this 600 points?

Because it's so good.
And possibly due to it never getting a console port, making it more "exclusive".

Of course I don't know 100% sure, but I think it has something to do with the game being released as both Gaplus and Galaga 3 in the US originally.

According to arcade-history.com Gaplus is on the Namco Museum Remix for Wii.

As a matter of fact, the video clip is from NMR.

It wasn't nearly as popular as Galaga was in arcades, in fact many arcades ended up putting Galaga cabinets back in place when they got rid of Gaplus. They later changed the name to "Galaga 3" to try to increase its popularity, but it didn't work too well.

@morphballer: It is. I have it. Yet another game where you're much better off passing and getting NMR instead, especially if it's marked at 600 for something like this... There's so much else you could get instead.

Even with the slightly raised price, I'll still be getting it. I love Galaxian and Galaga, so I'll most likely love this! Plus, this game reminds me a lot of Titanion, and I loves Titanion!

Love it so far. Galaga rocks so does this. Seems like the screen would be slightly wider though. Still cool though.

@Corbie: "It wasn't nearly as popular as Galaga was in arcades, in fact many arcades ended up putting Galaga cabinets back in place when they got rid of Gaplus."
I can absolutely understand that. Having played this for a while now, it's an new, interesting and entertaining take on Galaga, but it doesn't really have that sort of instant classic "oomph" Galaga had. People going back to Galaga after having had their fix with this one sounds about right.

I'm working on the review for Gaplus right now and I agree 100%. While it's a nice twist, it doesn't have that same "it" factor that Galaga had. Still a nice game if you love that type of game, however.

The "vertical" screen effect doesn't look too good on a 16:9 HDTV -- like Tetris Party, it's a little too hard to see the action from more than a few feet away. Also a pretty steep learning curve, so be ready for a tough game. This is my first Virtual Console Arcade purchase, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. 6 out of 10

Hi, I downloaded GAPlus but I can't seem to get the game started. It just plays the demo, and I can't seem to get it to play the game. I am using the Wii controller. How do I get it to play?
