Mario and Yoshi are filling in at the cookie factory, and they need your help!
Another Mario puzzler? Say it ain't so! Like Mario & Yoshi (Yoshi in the US), Yoshi's Cookie is a lesser known title than Dr. Mario and Wario's Woods, which is mostly because, well, it's not that interesting.
To its merit, it's not another falling block puzzler. In fact, this is one of the more unique puzzlers on VC. The objective is to create lines of cookies in order to make them disappear. You will start out with a "block" of them, and new pieces will gradually approach from the right and top. You play by putting your cursor on a cookie, pressing the action button and then moving the D-pad: this moves the entire row of cookies left/right or the entire column up/down, depending on what you pressed. Like a Rubik's cube, the cookies will "wrap around", so if you, say, move a column up, the top cookie will appear at the bottom.
After clearing the entire playing field, the next stage begins, and this pretty much goes on until you lose, as in Dr. Mario and other puzzlers. If you get down to one remaining column/row made up of different cookies, it won't be auto-cleared (because there's nothing to match them with). Two cookies is the minimum required to make one disappear, so you'll have to wait for more cookies to attach from the sides.

This game is a great puzzle game (but if tetris comes out, I would think twice)

I liked the game back then. I think it was a birthday present and one of the last games we got for the NES.
At first, I was dissapointed at the second I realized it was nothing else then a puzzle game - and the damn yoshi isnt even seen in 90% of the game :[. A fair try later, I went well with it and had my fun for a long time solving all puzzles, watching the funny cutscenes and pwning my brother in multiplayer.
6/10 is a fair score.
