In mid-February a retailer listing from Canadian store VGP Video Games Plus pointed to a new batch of Nintendo Selects titles being on the way to North America. The good news is that the listing was accurate, with Nintendo of America confirming that the range of Wii U, 3DS and Wii games will be available for $19.99 - that's the US price - from 11th March.
Amazingly, the $19.99 price seems to be universal across the entries on all three platforms, which is particularly good news with the Wii U games. There are some gems in the line-up, which you can see below.
- Animal Crossing: City Folk
- Donkey Kong Country Returns
- Super Mario All-Stars
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
- Mario Party: Island Tour
- Yoshi's New Island
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- NES Remix Pack
- Pikmin 3
- Super Mario 3D World
That's a pretty strong line-up for the next Nintendo Selects batch. Are any of you in North America planning to pick some of these up?

Good. I will be getting OoT 3D.
I'm definitely picking up Zelda OaT 3D. Been holding off on getting it but for $20 I can't pass it up. Will the digital prices be the same or is this for retail only?
Woohoo going to finally get Pikmin 3. Yeah, overall great lineup.
Want Wii U Nintendo Selects games in Europe!!!
Good stuff all around. Can finally get Pikmin 3 for a good price.
Damn, was hoping Wind Waker would be getting one, perhaps it will be included in round 2,but Pikmin 3 is a definite plus!
May finally pick Tropical Freeze up. I heard good things
Some of these games are still going for $40-50 on eBay. Might be worth it to sell your copy ASAP and pick it up again brand-spanking new from Amazon Prime or BestBuy Gamers Club for $16
probably will get Yoshi's New Island for my son. He loves that game. Will get Super Mario All Stars, Donkey Kong Country Returns and NES Remix Pack for me. How good a game is Animal Crossing City Folk?
Already own many of the best off this list, but I never played a Pikmin title. Can't say no to this price. I'd get Mario Party 10 for $20. Maybe next time?
They need to release the Wii Chibi Robo that never made it outside Japan.
.....I just purchased OoT a couple weeks ago after finding it at Best Buy! I was so proud that I actually found a physical copy too! It's okay, I only spent double the new price!
We have most of the games on the list but I my buy Pikmin 3 finally.
@Pokefanmum82 I wouldn't bother with City Folk at this point. The Wii has been stripped of all its online features, rendering City Folk a lonely experience.
I guess now would be a good time to pick up the NES Remix Pack.
I traded a few of these titles for more than these amounts, but didn't finish defeating all of them. Now I can rebuy them for less than I got trading them in, and I've actually come ahead on the deal! Woo hoo!
I'll be getting City Folk and maybe Island Tour.
If Donkey Kong 3DS gets the same price in Europe, I'll take it. I would have loved SML3D for 3DS to get a reduced price too.
About Zelda, any chance it will be the exact same version as the first prints? (i.o.w. still having the bug used for exploit)
Are you FREAKING kidding me? I just bought OoT 3D two days ago! I've wanted it forever but the $40 price was a turn-off. I figured it would EVENTUALLY come down in price, but then two days ago I gave up on waiting. Two. Days. Ago. I am going to punch something.
Maybe I will finally buy Pikmin 3!
Getting All-Stars and one of the versions of DKCR.. anyone wanna give me advice on which version to get?
@foodmetaphors If you'd be happy with either of them, I would definitely get the 3DS version. The 3DS version has an extra world. Which I haven't gotten to yet, because to unlock it is quite difficult.
@CHET_SWINGLINE Take it back to the store with your receipt and get a gift card. This list of Nintendo Selects was leaked a couple of weeks ago for Canada. You probably should have waited for a US release.
Mario 3D World and Tropical Freeze are outstanding games. For that price, you owe it to yourself to get those if you haven't already. I would download DKC Returns in an instant if it was a Wii U download for $20. I may try out that Pikmin 3 demo now.
As soon as they're announced for Europe, I'm picking up Pikmin 3 at last
Everyone needs to buy Pikmin 3! I enjoyed that game so much, especially the multiplayer challenges.
@dkxcalibur If it's within a 30 day period they will refund the difference. I would hold onto that receipt if you still have it and take it back and get some money.
Finally I can buy pikmin 3 for a decent price! (not for $60)
@CHET_SWINGLINE
Most stores have a 15-30 day price match guarantee. Not GameStop, of course.
@sr_388 @abbyhitter I should clarify one important element of my story: I can't take it back to a store for a price match, because I downloaded the game from the eShop. Sooooo...
Also, I never saw anything about this Canadian "leak" abbyhitter mentioned, so that answers that.
I'm planning on getting a good 3-4 of these... Pikmin 3 is absolutely among that list. I was just thinking about getting that about a month ago and learned real quick how hard it is to find.... And also how expensive it is going for!
Glad I'll finally be able to get it there's a Pikmin-sized gap in my life.... Well, a several thousand Pikmin-sized hole.
@mikecel79 Assuming it's like Nintendo Selects in Europe, then yes, the digital prices will also be reduced to match. =)
I want super Mario all stars.
Hip hip hurray!
I wonder if My Nintnedo will be up that day so people can register their new purchases? Well that is if they go back to putting codes in the boxes. If not I suppose they'll register when we play them? Or is My Nintneod only about digital purchases? hmm
Anybody looking to pick-up Pikmin 3, don't forget there are 3 DLC packs totaling $9. I think they are worth it. Even more so w/ the game for only $19.99.
http://pikmin3.nintendo.com/mission-mode/#mission-dlc
Still confused on the Animal Crossing: City Folk. It was a Nintendo Select title back when I purchased my Wii U in 2013. Are they reissuing it? Making it available on the eShop (which sadly I would be interest in even though I own it)?
Otherwise, everything in the Wii U line I either bought or got as a Club Nintendo reward. Super Mario 3D World is a steal at that price point, and if you haven't played Pikmin 3 you should give it a try.
@CHET_SWINGLINE lol. That sucks that you bought it digitally. That really screws you out of discounts or selling it. This is why I never buy digital retail games at full price. All of my "digital-only" eShop game purchases have been from sales and discounts.
@CHET_SWINGLINE Sorry to hear that. The leak was posted on this site less then 2 weeks ago so a lot of people knew they were coming.
@Spoony_Tech Do you think they will do that? We both know that they are the same game, but the newly priced ones will most likely be in "Nintendo Select" cases. Believe me, it would have went back the day I found out about the new prices if I didn't already open it! I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.
Its upsetting that Star Fox 64 3D doesn't get any price drop.....
Here's hoping the discounted All-Stars will be released here in Europe, too, either as a retail title or on the eShop. So that I can give my retail copy to a friend of mine.
People paying $80+ for Pikmin 3 must feel pretty stupid now :-/ But hey at least those who didn't get to play it get to play it for far less money than it's worth! Definitely a fantastic game, one of the best I've played in the last 10 years! Oh yeah those other titles on the list were good too
match them prices in the eshop pls.
Good. I can finally get All-Stars!
@abbyhitter I think it should go without saying, but I don't buy digital copies of games if I have any intentions of selling or trading them. I've never sold or traded a Zelda game, so it's a pretty safe bet that if I buy a Zelda game, I'm going to have it until I die
Also, I had been looking for a physical copy in stores and couldn't find one. And it is a lot easier to download a game than it is to shop for a physical copy online and wait for it to be delivered. I'm both impulsive and lazy.
Surely $20 for Super Mario 3D World is impossible to resist!
First animal crossing game for the wii u.
@dkxcalibur Don't see why not. It's like you said the same game and stores do these things to protect their customers. They don't want people getting ticked off from things like this. You shouldn't even bring the game with you just receipt. I've done similar things.
When I got my Wii U 2 years ago from game stop 2 weeks later it was on sale for 25$ off. Less then 2 weeks later it was another 25$ further off. Got back both 25$. Let me know how it turned out. Make a bit of a stink if you need to.
@Spoony_Tech That's great for the people that saw the story. As one of the people who DIDN'T see that story, I congratulate those people lol
@ThomasBW84 It may not be the most loved "3D" Mario game ever, but its beyond a great, quality title for $20, indeed.
City Folk should be like $4.99 now that there are no online features at all.
Those are some pretty darn good deals! It is a shame that I already own all that I want out that selection.
So donkey kong country returns, Donkey Kong Country returns 3D and DOnkey Kong Country Trophical Freeze are all the same price now? That just seems really weird.
Oh, the inner collector in me hates buying these re-releases...but I never did get Pikmin 3, and I really can't pass it up for $20! And maybe it is time to get Tropical Freeze too...Also! For anyone who doesn't already own OoT3D, buy it! I bought it back during the Great 3DS Summer Drought of 2011 and it was well worth $40 and for half the price...can't go wrong!
I'm hoping Super Mario All Stars gets a UK 'selects' release, I know it came out in 2010 even so I'd be very happy.
Hears weird, squeaky crying from pocket
Pulls out crying wallet
Pikmin 3 for $20! I've wanted to try out Pikmin since I played the minigame in Nintendo Land. (I suspect there will be some differences...) The rest of the games on the list I either own, or am not interested in.
Well this gives me an excuse to finally buy Tropical Freeze. Will these be branded on the packaging as Nintendo Selects or have different colored boxes of any kind?? That always put me off... If they are branded and packaged as the normal first print editions then I'm totally cool with it.
@CHET_SWINGLINE Buy it for 20$ and return it new for 40$
I'll try to pick OoT 3D, DKCTF, and Mario 3D world if they show up here.
They really should release Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
I may get Super Mario All-Stars to have a working copy of the older games on my Wii Mini. NES Remix and Super Mario 3D World may also come home with me.
Tropical Freeze and All-Stars just entered my maybe pile.
@Sinton
Exactly! That would sale, probably more than it did originally. Then they would make a lot of money off of it instead of Gamestop!
Is Super Mario All-Stars a carbon copy of the SNES-game?
TROPICAL FREEZE AND 3D WORLD FOR ONLY 20 BUCKS?!?!
If you don't get those masterpieces for such a low price you are officially stupid.
S-T-U-P-I-D
Mario Party: Island Tour, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Super Mario All-Stars for me. I own everything else. So excited!
I will probably pick up super Mario all stars. Have most of the rest already.
I'll probably pick up NES Remix Pack, Yoshi's New Island, and maybe Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Animal Crossing.
@AyeHaley
Seriously, this is truth.
@Captain_Gonru Considering how much the Wii U used the camera, does NX need one? Tank Tank Tank photo of my face, maybe Spin the Bottle. And I never used vid chat. I'd rather type in a code than camera a Q-code.
Crazy how Ntnedo still has all this My Nintnedo and Miitomo stuff to reveal in March w/ NX looming so large.
@foodmetaphors DKCR is a bit prettier on the Wii, but the 3DS version has better controls and extra stages. Also, many of the game's stages seem made for the 3D effect, even if that's obviously incorrect. I'd recommend the 3DS version.
I think I've written this WAAAAAAAY too many times, but I'll do it again.
MEANWHILE IN EUROPE...
@MrNinten Do it! Could be best platformer on WiiU
I'll just get Island Tour, only to see how "awesome" it is.
The rest I already own and I personally don't see why All Stars should be on disc when putting it on eShop (let alone Wii Shop Channel) makes more sense, unless if its Nintendo Selects box contains more than just the disc.
@foodmetaphors Definitely get the Wii version. You will want to play that game on a big TV screen.
Totally gonna get either Super Mario All Stars or NES Remix
Sooo, what about Europe, Nintendo? Do we not get anything, like how you screw us over with your so called "sales"?
I'll finally get 3D world. Can't remember the last time I held out this long for a mainline Mario.
Perhaps I can finally get 3D world and play something else on my wii u.
I want to see EVERYBODY get Tropical Freeze after this. It's a musical and visual masterpiece of a platformer that everyone seems to overlook, and it should get the credit it deserves. It's my personal #1 platforming game of all time. Get Pikmin 3 too, it's also pretty fantastic and Pikmin doesn't get much attention either...
Considering I have every game I want from this list, none for me. Maybe I'll pick up All-stars since I missed out on that, but since they're not going to reprint the collection contents I bet, it's less tempting.
Will definitely pick up 3d World and Pikmin 3 at those prices.
Eventually.
My body is ready!
I'll be grabbing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario All-Stars, and NES Remix. I'll possibly grab some of the 3DS stuff as well. If only Lego City Undercover was part of this deal.
Glad I ebay'd my Mario All Stars game when i did (for a fair price btw) that thing was quite the collectable. Nice to see Ocarina get a new print run. These select versions though don't seem to come with manuals or the little quick start guide cards that came with some of the older titles, to my knowledge anyway. Might be of importance to some out there.
Does this effect digital prices too? It really should
Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, both DKC titles, I cannot recommend these games enough! That price, you have no excuse! Enjoy!!
Pikmin 3 at that price? I think it time for me to pick that up.
Nintendo certainly has a strange pricing strategy. 3D world and Pikmin 3 have sat at $60 since release, and now they decide to drop it all the way down to $20? Say goodbye to any sales you would have gotten for those games between now and then. Hell I ain't complaining it's just very odd
Oh man, the title scared me for a second. I thought it said that Nintendo confirmed a new system known as the "New Wii U".
Well good. I remember complaining about Canada getting these games at ridiculous prices and assumed NOA was going to do the same but apparently not. So good job NOA. I'll give you a thumbs up.
pikmin 3 for me all the way.
Tropical Freeze is all mine!
I want dk3d!! Have wii version so wasn't prepared to pay full price 😂 come on Europe!!!!
Ocarina of Time, DKCR 3d, and Tropical Freeze for me!
We gonna get these in UK?? Please
I lent my copy of Tropical Dong to my brother ages ago and he ended up selling it. I've been having a hankering to replay it lately, so it's awesome to hear it's getting that major price cut so I can rebuy it. $30 Canadian isn't too bad; Wii U games are typically $65-$70 up here.
$29.99 for the Canadian gamers I'll be picking up both dkc games for Wii and Wii U , Pikmin 3, and either OoT 3D or NES Remix Pack
Whew, close one! For a second there, I mistakenly thought the NX's name was going to be 'New Wii U'...
I'll probably be getting Ocarina 3D at some point, but I have almost all of those other games. Still, $20 each for those Wii U games is an amazing deal. Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, and 3D World are all excellent games.
This is awesome but it does rather show up the disparity of line ups in different regions. Please remove region lock, Nintendo.
Like many already mention, glad that it's just about games and not a new console. I too was gonna be pissed if there really is going to be a console called 'New Wii U'.
Glad I sold my Pikmin 3 game I had sealed while it was still worth something. Now that it's $20, I'll probably pick it back up lol. Sad that I dropped full price on OOT3D, Tropical Freeze and some others though....
I don't have a Wii U, but i'm going to get these games before they jump up in price down the line. Hopefully NX has backwards compatibility lol.
For 3DS i'm going to get Ocarina just to have it, and DKCR to own it physically.
Still no Majora's Mask 3D? Who cares.
Ocarina. Anything to make my 3DS more valuable since I rarely want to play it. Though, the timing is a bit weird as it's about the same time for Twilight Princess HD. And a new Zelda game presumably this year... and I have finished A Link Between Worlds...
Will be getting all stars since i dont have it.
To echo a few others here...if you haven't bought the Donkey Kong games now is the perfect time.
I've been waiting for a copy of OoT 3D for under $50 so this is perfect for me. Might also get 3D World as well.
Man... This news REALLY makes me wish All-Stars was available on the 3DS.
I will definitely be grabbing Pikmin 3. The 3D World and Tropical Freeze are pretty appealing at that price. OoT 3D is getting a maybe from me. This is the best news Nintendo has put out in a while, actually meeting market demand with a good deal to boot.
I want Pikmin 3...!
Tropical Freeze here I come! After I get Twilight Princess HD...
I was on the fence about whether or not the Wii U's lifespan would come to an end this year, but I think this pretty much seals its fate.
Time to get Super Mario 3D World and why not? I have never played AC:CF
Darn, I own all those WiiU titles. I might pick up OoT 3DS. I have for the Wii VC. That one is just to keep in mind.
I would love to pick up pikmin 3!
Am I imaging things or was the MSRP higher when they first mentioned this? $19.99 is a steal for some of those titles especially OOT.
Everyone should grab Pikmin 3 and DKC Tropical Freeze. Easily 2 of THE greatest games ever released on Wii U.
To those who are picking up Pikmin 3 though, be sure you have a Wiimote and Nunchuk. The game is playable via analog (or stylus which works decent on the gamepad- horrible for TV though cause you can't see where you're about to tap), but the absolute way to play is with Wiimote.
You can set gamepad in your lap or prop up on a table next to you, and just reach down to tap the screen any time you want to shift to satellite view or command multiple units simultaneously.
SUPER MARIO ALL STARS LEEEEETTTTTSSSSSS clap clap FCCCCCKIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@King_Octorok I wouldn't recommend Mario Party 10. Unless you enjoyed 9, there isn't too much to find. I got it looking for another party game to go with NintendoLand and Smash and was very disappointed that the gameplay is as bad as the reviews say... as someone who very much enjoyed the older Mario Party games (up to 7 iirc), it is very dull. Sorry to butt in without you asking for opinions but if more games come out for $20 I would hope you'd invest in a different experience!!
I got interested in Pikmin 3 a couple of months ago and thought of dropping the full price for it on digital since I love the demo. Now I can buy the game physically and grab all of the DLC for a total of only $30.
And for those who have not bought DKC Tropical Freeze, do go pick it up for the reduced priced. The gameplay, visuals, and soundtrack are fantastic and the game has plenty of replayability.
@mikecel79 If the past is any indicator then pricing on the eShop will drop as well.
Nice. I am finally going to jump on Tropical Freeze. Consensus seems that it's a pretty difficult platformer, and I can't justify paying 60 (or 50) bux for an extremely frustrating platformer. (my platforming skills are bad, especially newer ones). But for 20, I'd like to experience it.
Still have to give the Pikmen on GC a chance, have it, but haven't actually played it yet. Strategy games also hurt my brain. haha
Pikmin 3.
Is NES Remix worth the time? Also thinking of trying an Animal Crossing game. City Folk a good place to start, or should I hold out for New Leaf?
@RobNYC1977 I could have posted this comment. I got TF for free, however, from the old Nintendo Club promo just before it kicked.
I kinda suck at platformers.
I am happy to hear these were actually true. Looks like they will be $29.99 in Canada but that's still an awesome deal. The Wii U games in particular are fantastic. I am going to pick up DKCR for 3DS and Pikmin 3 for Wii U. I may pick up the single disc Bayonetta 2 which is like $30 now, too!
Pikmin 3 for 20$ FINALLY!
On a side note, are these going to be on Amazon for the same price? Or will they be retail exclusive?
I REALLY want WindWaker to get this same treatment someday. I usually don't like buying remakes, but I'd spend twenty bucks to play this gem again. (For the fifth or sixth time.)
would be nice if the Wii titles hit the eshop too (the ones that arn't there currently) but knowing NOA I highly doupt it.
This is great because in Mexico the dollar is very high and this is a chance to get excellent games at better prices. It is very difficult to buy games nowadays with the high prices.
I MET KANYE WEST IM NEVER GOING TO FAIL
Pikmen 3 for twenty bucks? Yes please.
Pretty strong lineup? Pff. Hahahahaha. This is one of the weakest lineups I've ever seen from Nintendo.
@KiwiPanda I appreciate the honest, actually. My wife is the most casual of gamers so we love Wii Party U and Nintendo Land. I was hoping MP10 wasn't really terrible, just unoriginal
I will be picking up NES Remix and maybe another copy of Super Mario All-Stars since my original copy is still sealed for collection purpose. The rest of the Wii/Wii U games I either done own or don't interest me.
@HeroOfTime32 Image is from Nintendo.com
http://www.nintendo.com/images/page/nintendoselects/pikmin-3/game.png
@Bolt_Strike pls stop
@Bolt_Strike don't do it fam
I'm thinking Zelda and Pikmin 3. As much as I would like to get Animal Crossing, in holding out for the Ultimate NX version. Woolly Worrkd makes me want to get New Island, but I've heard I might regret that.
@DarkEdi You can get most of these games on retail for a cheaper price in Mexico (I live here too), I saw an OoT 3D for $200 MXN (like $10 USD). You should check prices before getting these.
Great! I really hope this Selects range comes to Europe too. If so, I'll get both DK games, OoT 3D and Pikmin 3!
Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World...
**YOU WILL BE MINE**
@Captain_Gonru Camera on a handheld does make sense. But I still don't like scanning things, it's always too dark in my basement. For the record, that's my basement, I don't live in my parents basement.
Oh goody, Super Mario all-stars!
@mjc0961 Ehh, $3 fee, takes about 1 minute to do the listing, and shipping it is as hard as printing the shipping slip, taping it to the envelop and putting it in the mailbox. Maybe 5 minutes work for $20. I'm at just under $30,000 ebay sales over the last few years and I wouldn't say I spend more 30 minutes a month on it.
So im pretty sure this will not cover digital games at all. Disappointing, but still a really good deal
Why are these not available in the EU?!
More importantly why are the Wii U Nintendo Selects that are available in the EU not discounted at all?
Wind Waker HD and Pikmin 3, for example, are both still £49.99, despite being listed as Nintendo Selects titles. That is how much they were originally; where is the discount?!
