A newly-spotted Taiwanese rating suggests that the original No More Heroes could soon be arriving on Nintendo Switch.
The game, which first launched on Wii back in 2008 in the west, has been a contender for Switch for some time now. Back in 2018, series director Goichi 'Suda51' Suda said that he'd been having conversations with Japanese publisher Marvelous over a potential Switch port of the game, saying he'd "love to be able to do that".
This new rating lists Marvelous as the publisher, suggesting that those talks have progressed nicely and that an official announcement may well be imminent.
The Taiwanese ratings board has been particularly good to us just recently, also potentially giving the game away on new releases of Liege Dragon, Redout: Space Assault and World of Tanks Blitz, as well as Crimzon Clover.
Would you like to see the original No More Heroes on Switch? Still patiently waiting for No More Heroes 3? Tell us below.

Ah, loved the original game on the Wii. Would love it on the Switch & would play it again. Heck, port the second game in the series as well. Why not?
I imagine it won't be a remaster & just a straight port onto an HD console (?)
Yes please. I would like to get into the series proper prior to No More Heroes 3 whenever that releases.
Nice, hopefully the sequel is also coming as well and with gyro control support too.
I would have thought it would be a collection of 1 and 2.
The Original NMH at a rock solid 30fps or a silky smooth 60fps, running at at least 720p, would quite frankly be a day one purchase at £30 or less. I still prefer the Original to the sequel, but I'd love to see both on Switch. Also have the option for Blood or No blood instead of simply censoring it.
Played the first on Wii and was burgled before I got to play the second, never did replace most of the games that I lost, so would love to get the first 2 on Switch to prepare for the 3rd entry.
Wonder if it'd be a $60 remake with nothing new added, a $60 remaster with nothing new added, or a $60 port with nothing new added.
@shoeses even the PS3 remaster was only £40. So hope it would be less than that.
Suda51 has contacts in the Taiwanese ratings board and asked them to list the game just to troll us all.
Would love both games to be remastered but the original will do nicely. When No. 3 was announced, I got the Wii out just to have a game on them and still great fun.
I've been hearing No More Heroes 3 is getting delayed to next year which I would hate so much the one game I've been looking forward to all year gets delayed so if No More Heroes 1 and 2 come out its something for me to replay
It'd make sense to re-release the first two on Switch before NMH3 comes out for those who haven't played them yet. I actually haven't gotten around to playing NMH2 (despite having owned a Wii copy for many years) so I'd love to see it on Switch. Would actually get around to playing it if that were to happen.
@Mqblank I love his trolling
Would love to see HD updates to Heroes 1 & 2 and killer7 while we wait for NMH3
Probably the next Partner’s showcase, the one in August! With a sweet shadow drop
@FargusPelagius Games are cheaper on Playstations.
Still have the original for the Wii. Loved the game for it's crazy humor and violence. A must play for everyone who want's to play NMH3.
I'd like to see them merge 1+2, have the 3d overworld of 1 with more variety of missions and bosses, by adding the content of 2. Alternatively, release the 2 games on one cartridge, or separately, truth is I'd accept anything.
Travis touchdownfor smash?
easily in my top 10 favorites (the first one only). those slot machine specials were trippy as
We had the censored version of the first one (but not of the second!), so I’d love to see the wild boss kills in the original version. It’s such a good game.
@Aubrey663 If bayonetta and Solid Snake are in, why not? They will have to alter his rather "iconic" shouts after a kill, although I can't help but smile at the idea of Travis shouting "F*CKHEAD" at Mario after smash attacking him off-screen. And Bad Girl as an assist trophy, smashing away at the end of a factory line drawing in the players.
On topic: there's already a remastered version of NMH with some bonus features from the second game if I recall correctly on PS3, so it can't be hard to make this happen.
The original on Wii used the Wiimote speaker as a phone. The blonde would call you up right before a boss fight and you, the player, would raise your Wiimote up to your ear. It was a really neat feature, curious how or if they would implement this on Switch.
I’ve been expecting this. I would love to replay 1 and I never did play 2.
@stipey Actually, the European version was never censored. We got the original version, which was the same as the Japanese version.
They ADDED blood to the American release to make it appeal to the American market.
We better get both original games; would hate if they didn’t port those two enduring classics.
Nothing worse than having a game or film or book that was missing a few chapters or sequels due to publisher indifference or an unavailable system/component. Drives me nuts, it does.
Very excited for this, hope it comes out this year.
@Mushvision exactly. To be honest I prefer the EU version, the coins and flashes fit the style better than blood in my opinion.
Of course, having both options would be ideal.
I really liked this game on Wii... Until I hit that one boss. After about three months of failed attempt to beat the assassin high school teacher, I finally got her down to only needing one or two more hits to win. That's when she pulled some crazy combo move and I watched in horror as it essentially turned into a non-interactive cut scene. And she killed me. I was so mad at the unfair BS, I never played the game again.
Please! This is my favorite game all time.
I can see this being a stealth drop after they announce a release date for NMH3 during some sort of direct, be it general, mini or partner showcase.
I'd also like to have No More Heroes 2 on Switch! These games have great music and gameplay!
@Enigk i relate.., but I managed to finish both games until my Wii and PS3 were stolen, and it was by my own friend of all people!
@Mushvision Seems half true... what Suda intended for was the blood, but the Japanese and European versions didn’t have it for marketing reasons and censorship. From what I understand, it was supposed to be over the top to add humor like a Tarantino film...killer7 was pretty gory itself too and so the American version had the gore just like it did in the sequel.
I would love 1 and 2 for Switch
@Severian That's even worse when you know the person who did it. I had to move after. Feels weird living in a place where you know a stranger has been going through all your stuff. Bought a lot of stuff again but the some of the Wii stuff got harder to find and justify price wise.
I would buy this.... Here's hoping it's announced shortly..
The series really does deserve a chance on Switch. I hope 1 & 2 make it over.
@Mushvision Not true. Which is why the boss battles appear incorrectly in the Japanese and EU versions.
Yes! Im so Interested in this game!
As much as I would love this game, I think that I’m burned out on rumors for the year.
The second one is the one I played, fun game, and I can't stand gory games, this was the exception. Heh, I always thought about importing a PAL copy because supposedly it removed the 'fountain of blood' when you absolutely annihilate someone. I could never get a straight answer if this was only on the first game and not the second so I gave up trying to import.
"Reaper reaper that's what people call me, why? cause they all died."
Great song, powerful lyrics.
Would make sense for the first 2 games to be released before the 3rd game is released
Love each of the first two games and would definitely be happy to see them get HD remasters.
Aaaand my beam katana is fully charged.
Why they are at porting wii games please port madworld
@Severian I believe it was also to avoid getting a CERO Z rating in Japan since that’s what happened to several of Suda games. They have a problem with human on human violence if there’s blood and gore (among other things). Not sure if it’s still happening there but mostly games that are labeled Z by Cero are legally regulated and cannot be sold or displayed on the main floor of stores (they could only be sold in stores that contain a “Z” room which is Adults only).
@shoeses If it got remaster for Switch then it would already had new features added such as HD graphic update, traditional controller support (the original was only mtion control), and portability. Adding more contents will only be the sprinkling of the cake for the game.
I wonder if it'll contain the PS3 Red Zone features? I imagine not because Sylvia in the buff isn't very Nintendo is it?
Please. Do it for the children.
@Enigk Yeah, it still haunts me because we had a ten-year history and the behavior was so sudden with how it happened and how he ghosted me. I could still drive by his home, and know he still is there, but there isn’t much I could do about it. Unsurprisingly, he then graduated from police academy and became an officer, so pressing the issue won’t help.
@NeoKoala Yup and the blood somehow returned in the PS3 edition too. None of the “appeal to the American market” then.
Why not 1&2 together??? Make it a collection!
Makes sense. If that's true, then I hope they base it on the HD Heroes' Paradise editions, because you know... sometimes developers make strange decisions.
