Enduro Racer (SMS)

Game Profile

Based on the popular SEGA arcade game and redesigned for the SEGA Master System, Enduro Racer takes you on an intense set of adrenaline-designed courses containing diverse and rough terrain that will test your skills and reaction time.

Ride as fast as you can to pass as many cars and bikes as possible while also avoiding obstacles and pitfalls such as debris on the road. Take jumps off ramps and try to keep your speed up, but make sure to keep an eye on your bike so it doesn’t blow up in your face. Are you ready for the challenge?

Enduro Racer started out life as an arcade machine by Sega; it was a normal racing game like its better known stable mates Hang-On and Out Run. The idea was to ride your dirt bike through the rocky roads pulling wheelies over jumps. It was quite a popular..

Yes! Another first comment! :D :D

Another game I read/heard about in Retro gamer. Though it looks more like Paperboy than the actual arcade game, it still doesn't look too bad. If only we could get the Spectrum version...

Edit: looking at the video, this seems like Sega's answer to Excitebike.

Yeah it is nothing like the arcade game. This version is OK, but nothing amazing.

I really used to love Enduro Racer on the Speccy too! I would always play that after school until I got Buggy Boy which became my next favourite :-p

Oh... I think this is one of the Master System games I had as a child. The pictures look familiar, anyway.

Excitebike keeps coming to my head everytime i watch the movie. Looks quite cool though. But has it stood the test of time well?

Dunno twice? It does look quite a lot like ExciteBike though? (except for the fact its isometric.)

We must start a petition to make Nintendo adopt the ZX Spectrum like it did the C64.

I'd sign if I thought it would do any good. Some great games on the Speccy. I'd love to play them without the ten minute load times of the originals. But I don't think its really up to Nintendo. Commodore Gaming or someone like them would have to do it.

Wow, this one was... unexpected. With a game named "Enduro Racer, I kind of expected... well, Enduro Racer. This thing can't be called a port in the any mening of the word. It's not like the Master System was unabel to handle 3D racers, so... why?

Wasn't the coin-op a Hang-On/Outrun type affair? Still it looks better than the C64 version I had as a kid! If it's half as good as Excitebike, then that'd be great.

I think we're better off with Exitebike ... you can't make your own tracks on this one.

Not a bad game at all but they should've released the japanese version which had more tracks and was a better challenge.

Nah, they should've gone with one of the other console ports. You know, one of those that actually had more than the name in common with the arcade original.

I have this game for my SMS. Not a bad game, just not as good as the game it's trying to be, Excite Bike.

Adamant:
What port is that then?
I'd rather have a unique game than an inferior arcade port anyway.

This game could've used a 2-player mode. I don't think it's very similar to excitebike though except for the fact that they're both motocross racing games. This has more variety, different controls and it's isometric.

Ok I just downloaded this last night with my remaining Wii points. Its a decent game for 500 points. I think if you like NES excitebike this may be a good option for you. Like the review said not alot of depth

Does the music in the video remind anyone of River City Ransom?

Actually, Enduro Racer on the arcade looks a lot better. I hope we get that.
