The last entry in the Fantasy Zone series, this side-scrolling shooter puts you in the shoes of main character Opa-Opa, who is on a mission to avenge the death of his father. To do so, you’ll have to battle a variety of Enemy Generators to clear out the various levels and finish off the Menon Guardian at the end of the level.
Eliminating your enemies will let you rack up some gold, which you can use to buy even better weapons, upgrades and other equipment. Spend your gold wisely, as each different boss you need to defeat presents a unique challenge.

I'm guessing this will be an import title for us yankees, because we never got this originally.

No Clinker, it's actually on the SEGA Collection for the PS2 _
But it's still really cool

Now this is a must have for any Fantasy Zone fans. A MegaDrive exclusive that hasn't been featured in any compilations or remakes to this day.
And also, it's a great game.

I used to play this game on my freinds mega Drive and i found it very addictive and fun. ive been waiting ages for it to come to the VC. It has nice graphics, catchy sound and i also found the game quite challenging and makes you keep wanting another go. The power up weapons are cute and fun to use. This game is is well worth downloading for a good blast.

The sequel to Fantasy Zone is Fantasy Zone 2: Tears of Opa Opa, also released for the SMS in 1987. This game is from 1992
And it's awesome btw.

While I'm not as fond of the PC Engine Fantasy Zone game, I've always loved this Mega Drive version. It's just a shame it was never released in the US. Maybe it will hit the US Virtual Console soon and change all that.

I downloaded the SMS original and I liked it too. Hopefully we'll get this game in America as an import. Looks even better

Actually i prefer the SMS original. Super Fantasy Zone is fun, but don´t really move the series forward. There is too little innovation in it to make me excited for real. I think graphics are trippier on the SMS as well. But feel free to buy it, it´s a weird little shooter.
And yay, a Sunsoft developed game for VC! Now bring Gremlins II, Journey to Silius, Batman and... Waku Waku 7!

Last of the series, i need to get this. Hopefully, we'll get a new one in the future as it's a great series. You never know, it could happen, though the odds seems like another game, regardless of the console it's made for, are quite unlikely

I just picked up this game and I already have the SMS version. I am a bit turned off by the difficulty even on the easiest mode. However the graphics, music and control are amazing. If Mario did a shooter it would look like this game.( except with more turtles)

Such a cool game. Gradius meets a third graders art project.

A cutesy platform-shooter hybrid that acts as a pleasent introduction to what is a highly subjective game genre - but be aware: it'll kick your arse. Good stuff!
