Game Profile

Set in the near future, Digital Champ Battle Boxing is a first-person-perspective boxing title that plunges players into the raw intensity of the ring! Determined to thwart Mother Computer's plot to conquer mankind, you infiltrate the enemy's domain, using your boxing skills to vanquish your foes. Each round is three minutes, with a total of 12 rounds to a match.

Advance to the next contest through either a KO or by flattening an opponent three times in a round for a TKO. Utilize an arsenal of left and right jabs, hooks, power-charged crosses and three different kinds of "Devastator" punches. Deftly block and slip your opponent's attacks, and look for your chance to lay them out. Master these techniques and take down the greatest opponent of them all, DIGITAL CHAMP!

Digital Champ Battle Boxing is a first-person-perspective boxing title that plunges players into the raw intensity of the ring!

When it was first released in 1989 Digital Champ caused quite a stir. Boxing games up to this point had been graphically modest affairs; Punch Out! was (and some would say, still is) the title of choice for prospective pugilists thanks to its entertaining..

this seems to be really hard to control.... and boring, I'll wait for super punchout instead.

This seems to be emulating the style of arcade Punch-Out! rather than the NES and SNES versions with the whole 1st person perspective. Too bad the controls aren't good, the graphics and music are pretty decent.

The "you may also like" feature pretty much sucks...just because the genre is "import", it lists some games that have absolutely nothing in common with this. Where's Punchout in that list?!

Meh i'll give it a miss, there are better games on the VC. The lack of comments on this page also kinda shows a lack of intrest.

Punch-Out may be the King of the Ring in terms of popularity, due to how many people have played it. But I do prefer first-person when it comes to boxing style games. The idea works perfectly for the genre. And one game in particular took the ideas this game tried to implement and made it work.

It was a Treasure game. It was for the GBA. It was based on an Anime. And it is one of, if not the best boxing games ever made. Not completely accurate to boxing, but then neither is Punch-Out or many of the better boxing games ever made. But it sure was one of the most FUN boxing games.
